Thermal Engineer (m/f/d)

We are looking for a superstars to support us on our Argo project! Optimized for flexibility and reliability, Argo provides an end-to-end service capable of integrating with a bigger RFA launch system, as well as other launch vehicles. Its design builds on RFA ONE and Redshift heritage, utilizing already available technology and expertise. But Argo is not just a cargo capsule. It's a commitment to rebuild Europe's independent space cargo capabilities, and we want you to be a part of it.

Your Tasks

Conduct thermal modelling and analysis to ensure that both the rocket and cargo capsule maintain structural integrity and functionality under varying thermal environments encountered during missions.
Design and develop thermal control systems (TCS) including active and passive elements such as heat exchangers, insulation materials, and thermal coatings.
Perform thermal testing on components and full systems to validate models and ensure compliance with thermal requirements.
Use simulation tools to predict thermal behavior in various flight and ground scenarios.
Work closely with other engineering disciplines to integrate thermal management systems with electrical, mechanical, and propulsion systems.
Create detailed documentation for thermal management designs and procedures. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Identify and resolve thermal-related issues during development, testing phases, and post-launch operations.
Research and apply new technologies or materials to improve thermal performance and efficiency, reduce costs, or enhance safety.

Your Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are preferred for senior roles.
Experience in thermal engineering within the aerospace industry, particularly with experience in managing thermal issues for spacecraft or rockets.
Proficiency in thermal analysis software tools such as ANSYS, Thermal Desktop, or SINDA/FLUINT. Knowledge of CAD software for designing thermal systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
